Olympic Trials - Coach Blast Messages

Blast Message #1 – December 6, 2023

Dear Coaches:

Congratulations on having your athlete(s) qualify for the 2024 U.S. Olympic Trials in Indianapolis! We will be sending you some important messages over the next 6+ months that will help prepare you and your team for your Trials experience. Our goal is to keep these short and to the point, and except for this first message, no more than a few items will be sent in each email update. As a reminder, the competition will be June 15-23, 2024 (nine days) at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. We are currently at 727 qualified athletes.

Here are a few key points for this opening message:

The official Meet Information document is now posted at usaswimming.org/trials. Please note the revision date on the front cover of the document. Any future updates to the information will be made in red and will include an updated revision date on the cover.

Preliminary heats will begin at 11:00 a.m. every day (except for June 23, when there are no preliminary heats). Finals will begin at 7:45 p.m., with the first race normally taking place right around 8:00 p.m. Our partners at the Indiana Sports Corp are working with downtown restaurants to ensure dining availability late in the evening.

For security purposes, all accreditations will include photos, with no exceptions. The accreditation process will again be a two-step process; Step 1 will be for each club to establish a single point of contact (POC) who will complete initial registration as the admin for the club. Step 2 will involve the POC adding names and photos for their athletes and coaches. To make your Trials check-in experience as simple as possible, we ask that you complete the accreditation process for all club members prior to arriving in Indianapolis. Please refer to the Meet Information for additional info.

Please be aware that any athlete, coach, or team support who makes the 2024 Olympic Team or plans to participate in the Paris Olympics, will need a passport that is valid for three months AFTER the Games. If you do not have a passport, or your passport expires within three months after the Games, please apply now.

Spectator tickets are available at here, and hotel information can be found here.

As at past Trials in Omaha, all-you-can-eat lunches and dinners will be provided at Lucas Oil Stadium for athletes and team personnel. The planned cost for 2024 is about $30 per person for lunches and $40 per person for dinners. Lunches and dinners will be offered starting with dinner on June 14, and will end with dinner on June 22. More information will follow on these options. You will be able to sign up for these meals through the On-Line Meet Entry (OME) system once it opens a couple of months before the Trials. Please note there will be no meal sales on-site, and no one will be allowed in the Dining Village without a ticket for that meal.

Please note that all massage therapists and athletic trainers are required to be non-athlete members of USA Swimming and will need to successfully complete a background check and athlete protection training prior to arriving in Indianapolis. Please take care of this early.

All athletes ages 18 and over participating in or associated with this meet are subject to provisions of the USA Swimming Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policy (“MAAPP”) and that they understand that compliance with the MAAPP policy is a precondition of participation in the conduct of this meet. MAAPP compliance includes mandatory online training program. Information on the MAAPP can be found here; https://www.usaswimming.org/utility/landing-pages/minor-athlete-abuse-prevention-policy

There will be an introduction ceremony for the Olympic Team and Staff on the final night of Trials (June 23rd), and a mandatory Olympic Team meeting on the morning of June 24th.

If you have any questions, please contact the National Events Department at USA Swimming.

Thank you!
