BOARD GOVERNED CLUB

The most common organizational model for swim teams in the United States is the non-profit or not for profit corporation. This legal structure allows a team to maintain tax-exempt status.

Privately OWNED CLUB

Many successful competitive swimming programs in the United States are coach or privately owned. These teams are legally structured one of several ways. Traditionally there have been numerous sole proprietor and partnership arrangements.

INSTITUTION OWNED CLUB

There are many places in the United States where the swim team is one of the programs offered by the owner or operator of a swimming facility. These entities typically include universities or colleges, YMCAs or YWCAs, Boys and Girls Clubs, park and recreation departments, and private schools or school districts.

SWIM STAFF SELECT

Getting the right personnel in the right roles is a protective factor against abuse in sport.  Safe Sport is proud to offer a tool to make this process streamlined and accessible to all member clubs.

 

SwimStaffSelect is a free, online resource to provide teams with the best hiring and HR tools. Club leaders will have the ability to create job descriptions and applications, interview scripts, and reference check forms, as well as have the capability to electronically store hiring records on a password protected site.  

 

SwimStaffSelect was created in partnership with the Non-Profit Risk Management Center and offers hiring tips and best practices.

RECRUITING & RETAINING VOLUNTEERS

The success of a group is determined by how well the people involved see their responsibilities affecting the program in a positive way. The volunteer who feels appreciated will continue to work and be productive. Praise is the easiest and quickest way to encourage someone. Saying "Thank you" can be the same as a Gold Medal!
